Before we strengthen our body with exercise it is important to massage and stretch tight muscles in the body to avoid injury and pain. 

Most of us these days work long hours and sit for extended periods of time, which causes muscular imbalances throughout our body. Tight and weak muscles will cause their associated muscles to either be overactive or underactive. This leads to muscular dysfunction and pain. 

When you start any exercise program these tight and/ or weak muscles will hinder your training, as they will stop other muscles from activating properly. Thereby remaining weak whilst all the tight muscles get even tighter.

Before any strengthening exercises are prescribed, these tight muscles must initially be massaged and stretched to avoid injury in the future and to help you get the maximum benefit out of your strength training.
