Our Approach & What to Expect on Your First Visit

When our clients lay face down for often the first time in their pregnancy the very common response we hear is how happy they feel already to be lying comfortably on their tummies.

In this position our Jackie’s Sports Massage therapists are able to apply medium to firm pressure if requested which then helps any tight muscles to release.

What to expect on your first Pregnancy visit

We are very excited to be part of your pregnancy journey and look forward to caring for your body in this exciting time.

Your body will be going through many changes and the extra stress on your muscular system can be hard and sometimes lead to painful symptoms. The great news is pregnancy massage can help.

As we have mentioned we do pregnancy massage in the first trimester and many doctors and practitioners are happy to agree and also recommend massage therapy in this stage however since miscarriage can be very common in the first trimester due to many other factors not related to massage we do ask that you sign a waiver which states that you are fine to proceeed.

We kindly request  arriving 5 minutes early so that you can fill out our new client form which will ask you about your health history and reason for your visit today. We like to make sure we have a clear understanding of what your expectations are, where your pain or muscle tightness is located and what you would like us to focus on in your first massage treatment.

If you are unsure of what you need then that’s fine too as we will assess your body and make a treatment plan for you.

Session notes are recorded on every visit so we can document your recovery and keep a track record of what works best in releasing your body.

Some of the benefits of Pregnancy massage?

Recent research studies show that pregnancy massage does more than just give symptom relief to things like lower back pain, fluid retention and stress. The Touch Research Institute in Miami, Florida did some case studies and found that as well as all the listed benefits below,  women also had fewer complications during their delivery as well as fewer postnatal complications. The report stated shorter hospital stays, shorter labor times and less postpartum depression. Regular pregnancy massage should be a part of every woman’s healthy pregnancy plan.
