“When I was young, I was always pretending to hurt myself just so I could hang out in the hospital’s physiotherapy ward”

I always Knew…

Jackie Messaike always knew she wanted to be a care-giver, and more specifically a massage therapist from a very early age. Having grown up going to gym and yoga regularly with her father throughout her teenage years, she was introduced to the sporty lifestyle quite early.

“I distinctly remember the first massage I ever received when I was 15 years old from a therapist that worked in my gym. The feeling of relief and total bliss my body felt at the end of my first massage was amazing. I couldn’t believe the difference it made to my training, even at a very young age, the impact was instant. From that point on I was hooked,” says, Jackie.

“When I was young, I was always pretending to hurt myself just so I could hang out in the hospitals physiotherapy ward,” Jackie admits. When she was 15 years old a work experience stint at a massage/physio clinic sealed her fate, because she loved every moment of it. In her last year of high school, Jackie was accepted into the Australian College of Natural Therapies where she studied a Diploma of Remedial Massage at 18 years of age. She’s never looked back.

How Jackie’s Sports massage began..

Jackie’s Sports Massage was founded in 1998 at the heritage listed, landmark St. James Trust Building above Bambini Trust Café & Restaurant and opposite Sydney’s stunning Hyde Park. Jackie started the business on her own, working alongside a physiotherapist. Today, through mainly word-of-mouth recommendations from happy clients, the business now serves around 6000 regular clients. Jackie’s client list includes high-profile business people, to well-known celebrities and sports athletes.

Aged Care Massage

Jackie is also extremely passionate about the importance of massage for elderly people. The techniques used for the aged are different to those used in younger people. There are different physiological changes that occur in the body as one ages and the JSM massage therapists are very aware of this.

“It is a natural trend, that as people age they often become less active, and massage can significantly benefit the effects of ageing and less physical activity can have on our health and wellbeing.”

Pre & Post Pregnancy Massage

Jackie employs a team of highly qualified massage therapists, experienced in deep tissue and remedial treatments. Every team member is hand-picked and trained by Jackie herself to ensure an outstanding, consistent service.

Jackie’s Sports Massage also specialise in pre and post natal massage, something Jackie is very passionate about. Pregnancy and childbirth have an acute impact on a woman’s body, there are many common issues new mums face physically that remedial massage can target and treat in a profound way.

“Establishing self-care rituals like massage, on a regular basis can make all the difference to how your body restores and recharges itself, so you can be your best self, every day.” – JACKIE MESSAIKE

Thriving Passion

Jackie thrives on running her business and being mother to her three boys, helping them grow into wonderful young men who can go out into the world and be successful in whatever career path they choose. She is grateful that her clinic has become well known for its excellent massage therapy service and for her wonderful staff who are Sydney’s best therapists and she wants to see them be acknowledged for it. Her goal is to keep excelling at what she and her team do, study more and enhance their knowledge and skills ongoingly, while developing her brand further with a range of healthy lifestyle products.

“I want people to know what a ‘real’ deep tissue remedial massage is and the relief that come with it. I want people to know the importance of massage and the benefits it has in today’s stressful and fast- paced lifestyle.” – JACKIE MESSAIKE
